This is one of the absolute best cities in the world. When I first got started on this section, I was flooded with memories of what it was like to be in Bangkok for the first time. I was trying to make a point about culture shock, but I got off on a complete tangent, so I have decided to move that somewhere else!

Bangkok is a huge city which is impossible to explain in one chunk. Different parts of the city have a different feel to them, and where one person likes can be an absolute hell for others. Without question most backpacker oriented travelers head to the Khao San Road area of Bangkok. Others prefer to stay in the Sukhumvit region. Others find they like the Silom area. For now, we will concentrate on each of these sections and expand later.

Another useful way to catagorize the city is in terms of a particular Soi that is of interest. The following is a list of such places with their own pages:
